Kinetic studies Three different laboratory projects are currently planned using LED-CEAS instrument.

Oxidation mechanism studiesOxidant mechanisms of many kinds of hydrocarbons, such as isoprene, monoterpenes and sesquiterpenes, can be explore using flow tube reaction cells and/or reation chambers that are available in Korea and/or many other countries.

Absorption cross-section/extinction measurementsOur LED-CEAS instruments can generate a data base of wavelength dependent absorption cross-section/extinction of trace gases/aerosols under different environmental conditions (e.g. temperature and pressure). Temperature dependent absorption cross-section measurements of glyoxal(CHOCHO) will benefit satellite and DOAS retrievals. Currently, only room temperature CHOCHO absorption cross-section has been reported.

Uptake coefficient measurementsUptake coefficient measurements across air-surface interfaces (e.g. air-water, -liquid, -snow, -soot etc.) using a flow tube specifically for CHOCHO, HONO and N2O5 can also be achieved, and the mechanistic studies of gas-to-particle partitioning can be explored.
