Welcome to School of Earth Sciences
and Environmental Engineering,
from School Dean, Jaeyoung Lee
I would sincerely welcome all of you to our school, on behalf of all the members of school. I would say our school is warm in mind, sharp in research, innovative in teaching and learning, safe in experiments, and active in helping others world wide. When you visit our school, please visit the school office first but be prepare yourself not to be surprised at loud greetings. Every family in the department looks mild but they have dreams (seem impossible but they never give up), visions (invisible ones), and endless attempts to their goals.
We have 4 different research areas: atmospheric, nano/bio technology, energy, and ecology. But, there are no strict distinction and cutting boundaries; for example, one faculty (I can not say his name though but you can guess) is studying air, nano, bio in air, and water (desalination). Students also have such flexibility in their mood in research and collaboration. Research areas of some faculties are highly scientific, and some engineering oriented. It is our school that faculties with different backgrounds and majors can freely discuss, in regard to actual their research and methodologies. You can easily witness students are studying in the labs which are not their lab; this is not strange scene any more in the school.
We are not talking any more we are number one in publication and fund scale. We start to tell, with confidence, we are (at least trying to be) number one in basics in academics, with respect to both lecture and research, and in applications to real worlds, through in and out of classrooms, from a small energy conversion micro fuel cell to a huge desalination plant (able to feed one city).
Do not hesitate to contact with us if you are interested in the school, as students and colleagues from industries and academia. We are more than happy to talk with you and collaborate.
